Absolutely disagree. It is not fair to demand your employees come work under your watchful eye when they’ve proven they can do otherwise for the last year. It’s a bit selfish and egotistical to assume what’s best for you is best for everyone. You say you miss informal communication? Have you heard of Slack, sir? It’s very informal. Zero formal greetings required. And if the problem with Slack is that your informal communication is in writing, you should probably consider just keeping your “Informal” comment to yourself.
I’m all for those who want to be in the office going back — enjoy! Me though? I never again want to stand on an overcrowded BART train in San Francisco smelling feces and armpits to go to a place where I’ll sit in a less comfortable chair working on my laptop, something I could easily achieve at home.
