EDUCATIONAL HUMOR FOR DEPRESSIVES
Are You Sad?
This diagram from elementary school might cheer you up.
Remember in elementary school when they showed us this graphic of the caterpillar becoming a butterfly like it was the whole damn story?
Yeah, well, it was just like when they let us go around for several years as ignoramuses who didn’t know about negative numbers. They lied out of convenience— specifically about stage three.
Here’s what’s really going on inside the cute little stage your lyin-ass teachers condensed into “pupa.”
The caterpillar eats himself whole.
I shit you not, there is a paragraph in Scientific American that begins with “First, the caterpillar digests itself.”
I love how they say, “first.” First, the caterpillar does something so horrific it sounds as though it should be physically impossible — first. He’s just getting started, folks.
After that, the caterpillar’s cocoon is an oozing sack of soup.
Floating in that soup are these invisible cells that are like really smart — smart enough to survive the fucked up shit that caterpillar just did to itself.
