"If you like your job, shut up and turn up to work, and bite your teeth and commute everyday (we all know you will). "

No. I won't.

"Why don't you quit your job if your office does not offer you 100% remote work?"

My boss(es) are aware I'm quitting if they can't offer remote work. I'm very candid at work - it's the only way I know how to be. The keyboard commandos you see who in real life cannot stand up to their bosses are probably in management and have no backbone or other skills besides ass-kissing.

Also, regarding your comment about outsourcing, management is already doing that. Showing up and walking around the office looking important won't save you from outsourcing. I manage a team of 5 in India - as of now, management needs me to do that because the language barrier is such that the team can't handle more nuanced tasks without a lot of guidance. If they can figure out how to solve that, I'm sure from a cost analysis perspective, they'd get rid of me tomorrow - whether I'm in the office or not. Running back to the office is not a good strategy for long-term job security, in my opinion - the world is going to keep getting smaller and smaller, whether we like it or not.
